What Are Ovarian Cysts?
They are quite unpleasant and relatively common among females; are fluid-filled or solid sacs that emerge inside the ovaries and are tied to your monthly ovulation cycle. During this cycle, they come and go without causing any noticeable symptoms. Typically, cysts resolve within a few weeks to a maximum of 3 months.
However, in some extreme cases, ovarian cysts are an indicator of ovarian cancer. So, if you suspect of having them, it is always a good idea to consult with your women’s wellness care expert. It may turn out to be nothing, but better safe than sorry.
What Does an Ovarian Cyst Feel Like?
Here are the symptoms that depict what it feels like to have one in your body:
- Bloating
You must be familiar with the concept of bloating that accompanies your period, but if you notice bloating more intensely than usual, it may be a sign of a growing ovarian cyst presence. - Nausea and Vomiting
If an ovary becomes twisted because of the fluid-filled sac, the pain becomes severe enough to cause nausea and vomiting. - Fever
Infected cysts trigger a rise in body temperature. - Unexpected Bleeding
Although you cannot take bleeding, as a guarantee of cystic presence, it is still a cause for concern. - Lower Body Pain
The anatomic placement of your ovaries in the lower body. Therefore, if everything else is ruled out, pain in the lower back or thigh region can be a symptom. - Pelvic Pain
Intense pain in the pelvis for no apparent reason may be associated with ovarian cysts. It may show up as a dull or sharp pain in your lower belly. The intensity and duration of pain can vary. - Urination and Stool Differences
Ovarian cysts also cause changes in urination and stool patterns. If you notice irregularities in these bodily functions, it’s another potential indicator. - Intercourse Pain
Not all, but some women with this issue may suffer from pain during intercourse, particularly if they have a specific type of cyst called an endometrioma.
